VW vans become startup office spaces

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has partnered with start-up specialists Startup Direct to convert its Transporter vans into roaming hot desks.

VW has created two uniquely designed sixth-generation Transporter vans to celebrate the developing relationship between new and small businesses and their use of commercial vehicles.

One is designed as a ‘Creative Hub’ complete with whiteboard, grass carpet, bean bags and woodland – perfect for brain-storming.

The second is the ‘Power Office’, offering views of the city, leather chairs and a wooden desk – just the thing for an aspiring CEO.

Research commissioned by Volkswagen in partnership with the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR), has highlighted the key role commercial vehicles play in the growth of new and small businesses in the UK.

Van dependent businesses contribute £120 billion to UK economy and travelling almost 102 billion kilometres in 2014 alone.

“We admire the entrepreneurial minds of those in the UK who have continued to take risks and challenged traditional business industries in establishing exciting and forward-thinking new start-ups that use our vehicles,” said Carl zu Dohna, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

“We know office space can often be at a premium; by working with Startup Direct we intend to offer individuals and businesses unique working spaces to inspire them.”

First manufactured in 1950, the newest version of the Volkswagen Transporter van was launched in September 2015, offering a wide range of models to suit all businesses.
